Black Diamond Ride Day Recap
Walking through that parking lot last weekend felt like stepping back into the old forum days. You know those early 2000s Razor Evolution videos? The grainy clips on Scooter Resource where a handful of us were just figuring out how to grind a curb without snapping a cheap stock deck? That's the spirit that showed up big time - about 70-80 heads strong — for this ride day. We've come a long way from the Proto forum origins and the first CNC decks, but the raw energy of everyone throwing down together? That hasn't changed one bit.
We hit just about all the spots at the Black Diamond skatepark - the A-frame rail, that bank-to-bank gap, the flat-to-down rail and stairs, plus a little bowl jam that had the whole crew hyped. Little kids on their first proper sends were getting grips, the more advanced riders were peeling off fresh grip tape, and that bowl jam best trick winner walked away with a shirt while small cash prizes were getting tossed around like it was the old contest days. **Eight Costco pizzas** disappeared in under an hour. Soda? Gone.
A couple dudes grabbed the megaphone whenever the vibe called for it - no scripted hype men, just whoever felt it - and it was perfect. Alex, Colby, Isaac, and the rest of the crew filming... clips are gonna be heat. Photos below.
This wasn't some polished, sponsored demo with barriers and logos everywhere. This was the scene the way it used to feel - raw, inclusive, and full of that early 2010s street scooter energy mixed with today's progression. From the Proto pioneers patenting parts to the kids today whipping switch tricks on modern setups from North or Prey, it's all connected. The brands may evolve, some may fold (we've seen plenty of those dates in the history books), but the culture keeps rolling because of days like this.
Huge thanks to everyone who showed up, threw down, shared pizzas, and kept the positive vibes rolling. Whether you're an old head who remembers when "pro scooter" meant grinding curbs on a stock Razor or one of the new generation chasing OHLAY Trick of the Year vibes - this is why we still ride.
More ride days tba soon. The scene's alive and sending. Let's keep it that way.
Stay up.
